How to Become an Estate Agent


We have seven different estate agency brands across the UK: haart, Chewton Rose, Felicity J Lord, Darlows, butters john bee, Haybrook and Howards.

If you’re interested in becoming an Estate Agent, we’re looking for an active listener, who is friendly, welcoming and has a passion for helping others.

We will guide you through the process every step of the way through our own in-house apprenticeships and development programmes, and we also offer placements through the Government’s Kickstart scheme.

Typical entry requirements include: GCSEs (or equivalent), some experience in customer service, but mostly skills such as being personable, confident, organised and having great communication skills.

You need to be willing to learn about the housing market and it is also important to have a clean driving licence to be able to visit properties.

You can start as a trainee and learn on the job or try an administrator role and work your way up. If you have the right skills and a passion for housing, you could land your dream role in no time.

Once you’re on the career ladder, we go the extra mile to develop our future leaders, through our LEAD programme (Leadership, Empowerment and Development) where we choose those at a pre-management level and provide training all the way up to Senior Executive capability.

Over 12 months, the programme teaches leadership qualities and helps develop a growth mind-set for the right candidates.
